Star for Life Project
The Star for Life Project is an HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention programme which aims to help and support high school students to live an AIDS-free life, to increase their knowledge about HIV/AIDS, to reduce the number of HIV-positive and pregnant students and to change the students’ values and attitudes in a perceptual way. The Star for Life Project is part of the JAC initiative incepted by the Thanda Foundation.

The Leading Hotels of the World
In September 2005, Thanda Private Game Reserve in Zululand was selected as the first and only game reserve in the world to achieve ‘Leading Hotels of the World’ status, joining the elite membership that is reserved for only 400 of the world’s finest properties.
A major criterion for obtaining Leading Hotels of the World status is the standard of service. Establishments must be on par with the best hotels in the world and an in-depth audit was undertaken to ensure that Thanda would meet up to the exceptionally high expectations of the industry’s toughest critics.

Café Spice Namaste
In Hindi ”namasté” quite simply means a ‘gracious hello’ - a welcome with a deeper sense of divinity. Here at Café Spice Namasté it means: ‘Welcome to a wonderful Indian gastronomic experience and adventure’. Thanda is proud to have hosted celebrity chef Cyrus Todiwala during the Good Food & Wine Show in July 2009; Cyrus is highly acclaimed for his unique style and widely acknowledged as the most creative chef working in Indian cuisine today. Café Spice Namasté is the only Indian restaurant in the UK to be awarded the Investors in People Standard and a National Training Award as well as being runners up for the Millennium Excellence Awards.
