The 5-star Thanda Private Game Reserve's Wellness Centre was chosen as a top 5 finalist in the category of Resort Spa by Les Nouvelles Esthetique during their inaugural South African 2005 Sanitas Per Aquas Spa Awards and Conference in Johannesburg on 17 July 2005.
The awards acknowledged service excellence, commitments and innovation in South Africa and over 100 entrants were received in the three categories, Destination Spas, Resort Spas and Day Spas.
Each applicant had to submit a 'Spa Portfolio' for evaluation by a panel of 5 judges and the awards were designed to stimulate a desire for service excellence among South African health spas in a growing local and international market. The winner was Pezula.
