The wellness centre at the prestigious Thanda Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal was voted as the winner in the Safari Spa category in the Les Nouvelles Esthetiques Spa Awards 2006, held at the Indaba Hotel in Johannesburg on Sunday 25 June 2006. The awards were launched last year to pay tribute to those who excel in this ever-growing and highly competitive field, setting the benchmark for spas in South Africa. Thanda was a finalist in the category Resort Spa in 2005. Two new categories were introduced this year, including the Safari Spa category.


“This award is consistent with our aspirations in ensuring that Thanda offers the very best in all aspects of the Thanda experience,” says marketing manager Anita Vernes.


Designed exclusively for Thanda, the wellness centre offers an array of treatments all with a unique Zulu feel, hot and cold outdoor kniepp therapy pools, a reflexology pool, outdoor sala treatment area, steam room and hydrotherapy bath.


Thanda shared the limelight with other industry leaders, including the AltiraSpa at the Arabella Sheraton Grand Hotel in Cape Town who won the Resort/Hotel Spa category, the Life Day Spa in Fourways Gauteng who took top honours in the Day Spa category, and the Angsana Spa at the Vineyard Hotel in Cape Town which was the winner in the Unique Spa Concepts category.
