Thanda Private Game Reserve in northern KwaZulu-Natal is synonymous with exclusivity, romance and wildlife, and we are thrilled to share the photo below taken by a guest who recently stayed at Thanda. The photograph was taken on 17 September this year by Phillipe Bui. Leopard is often the most difficult of the Big Five to spot at any game reserve in South Africa, and our rangers have spent many hours tracking the elusive cat. A few have been sighted but none have been captured on film, until now! Judging by how relaxed the beautiful animal looks, we can hopefully expect a lot more sightings in the future.
We also recently received the photograph on the right from the lodge, it was taken at base camp where the staff reside. Base camp is not fenced off (the fence visible in the photo is the perimeter fence of the reserve), and the staff quite often have wild visitors! This happens on a regular basis at the main lodge as well as the tented camp too.
