Thanda’s tented camp offers an authentic bush experience in accommodation reminiscent of a bygone era, and provides guests with an opportunity to experience our magnificent reserve in a comfortable, relaxed and more affordable way. Accommodation packages at the tented camp include all meals* and game activities as well as a limited selection of local beverages.
The tented camp has been designed in comfortable safari-style, best suited for guests who are searching for a genuine safari experience and who do not require all the bells and whistles. The 14 tents each have viewing decks and en-suite canvas bathrooms and provide rustic yet comfortable accommodation from which to enjoy the wildlife in one of South Africa’s most beautiful reserves. Public facilities at the tented camp include an attractive reception area, a curio shop, a new lounge area for guests to relax in, an enhanced dining tent, a 10x5 metre rim-flow pool and a new boma. Spa treatments by Africology can be enjoyed in the privacy of your tent.
Thanda’s tented camp is a completely non-electrified bush experience, but the camp is equipped with a generator which will power the tents for a few hours each day so that guests are able to charge cameras and phones in the privacy of their tents. However, even when the generators are running, lighting is minimal and the natural atmosphere of the tented camp is enhanced through boma fires and paraffin lanterns. If you wish to leave all the trappings of modern day life behind you and enjoy an authentic, affordable and unpretentious safari at one of South Africa’s top game reserves, then the tented camp is perfect for you.
Thanda’s tented camp is an approximate 15-minute drive from the main lodge in an open Land Rover.
